March is Red Cross Month

Century of First Aid Saturday, March 6, 9am and 1pm
The Red Cross has been preparing Americans to respond to medical emergencies for 100 years. To celebrate a century of excellence, the Red Cross of San Luis Obispo County is offering half-price first aid classes.
Two training sessions will be held on March 6, 2010 from 9 am-12 pm and 1-4 pm.
Three different locations:
SLO Red Cross Chapter (225 Prado Rd, San Luis Obispo);
Exploration Station (867 Ramona Ave, Grover Beach);
Paso Robles Public Safety Center (900 Park Street, Paso Robles).
The cost is $15 for those who pre-register and $20 at the door.

Cal Poly Baseball Game      Sunday, March 14, 1pm
The Red Cross will team up with Cal Poly Baseball for an exciting game! Red Cross volunteers will be on hand to provide information, throw out the first pitch and raffle off prizes. The men’s baseball game starts at 1pm at Baggett Stadium at Cal Poly.

Zin Fest      Saturday, March 20, 5:30-9:30pm
Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance’s annual Zinfandel Weekend is partnering with the Red Cross this year! Red Cross volunteers will help out at theZin Tasting and Wine Country Auction. A portion of the proceeds from the weekend will go to support the Red Cross Health and Safety programs. More information about ZinFest is available at http://www.pasowine.com/

Red Cross and Red Sauce      Saturday, March 27, 5-7pm
A Disaster Response Demonstration and Spaghetti Dinner

As the capstone event in National Red Cross Month, the chapter’s Disaster Services Volunteers will demonstrate their capacity to shelter and feed community members in San Luis Obispo County following a disaster. To accomplish this they will set up a mock shelter, provide information on Red Cross services, and prepare dinner for 200 community members at the Zion Lutheran Church, 1010 E. Foothill Blvd, San Luis Obispo. The event is free and everyone is encouraged to attend. Call(805) 543-0696 x 21 for more details.
